We arrived in the much anticipated Buenos Aires last Friday night. From the airport, we taxi´d directly to our apartment in San Telmo to meet the owner and online marketers from Waytobeaway. We´d booked the apartment online, so it was a huge sigh of relief to see it (A+, great shower, large balcony overlooking a park, newer kitchen, close to metro) and the surrounding neighborhood. It´s 2 blocks to the metro, located on an active through-street, near a bus stop and directly across from a dog-walking, playground-filled park...we couldn´t be more thrilled!
It´s located in San Telmo, a neighborhood just south of the city center. San Telmo is one of the oldest and most preserved neighborhoods in Buenos Aires, with cafes, tango parlors, and antique shops lining the colonial cobblestone streets. It has a great bohemian atmosphere that bubbles over every Sunday during the San Telmo Antiques Fair. At first, we were a bit worried to book an apartment in San Telmo because of the "riff-raff and grime", but we definitely made the right choice. It´s exactly what we wanted, a local, traditional neighborhood with flair.
So far, our time has been spent searching out local grocery stores, butchers, bakeries, fruit ladies, laundromats and decent internet cafes. All of which have required constant effort, but is fun all the same. Just glad we have a month to discover this huge and deliciously complex city.
This morning, I made bacon and eggs for breakfast. First time in 5 months. In Buenos Aires. How awesome is that?

Yes, yes you do. I got my "bangs" done in Lima. But sadly, it´s already starting to fade.
