Buhaina's Delight

The greatest creation ever conceived by human minds is the alfajor. This is a chocolate-covered, double or triple-layered chewy cake sandwich with sweet fillings. Some are white chocolate covered, some have fruit fillings, some are crunchy instead of cakey, and some have nuts or powdered sugar on the outside, but the best is the classic from Jorgito, a two layer deal filled with dulce de leche and covered in bittersweet chocolate. I’ve had at least one every day since we discovered them.

Mornings this week, Kiima and I took an intensive spanish class downtown at IBL (A+, young and enthusiastic teachers). These 4 hours a day were good fun and moved our spanish along pretty rapidly. The morning commute did smell a little too much like a regular work schedule, though. Check out some of my classmates enjoying alfajores from local shop Havanna.
