Bangkok Tattoo

We flew into Bangkok yesterday and high-five'd as we exited the plane, finally out of India. That night, we followed the booming speeches and pleased crowds to their origin and found a large park packed with a political rally in progress. Here we followed Disney-thick streams of party faithful past an abundance of awesome street food. Everything was made right in front of us on steaming, roaming push carts. The succession of speakers continued until long after we left. We could hear them from our bathroom window several blocks away. Here's our street eats dinner from that night:

  • stir-fried rice noodles with pork and vegetables (just ok, but unarguably, and by definition, pad thai)
  • grilled pork skewers (incredible)
  • salted lemonade (very refreshing to sweaty farang)
  • fried quail eggs on cabbage (for me, one time only)
  • grilled pork ball skewers covered in a sweet and spicy sauce
  • grilled beef dumpling skewers covered in the same sweet and spicy sauce
  • corn with dried milk and something sweet
  • pork dumpling and noodle soup with veggies (not normally a soup fan, but this was awesome)
  • grilled squid skewers (the tentacles are tough, but better than the hood section)
  • spring rolls (rolled and deep fried right in front of us)

I love the food here! Lee and I had to be cautious about eating street food in India, but not here....it's great! We've even had fresh fruits like pineapple and watermelon off the street. What a country!

But I have to agree with Lee on the quail eggs...one time only.

Real spring rolls?! How are you ever going to eat U.S. tainted food again?!
