Some thoughts about Vietnam:
- Watch out for the bicycles. Vietnamese are too short for the tall bikes here, so they're all a bit wobbly. You'll probably get run over by young'ns at least once.
- Good food. But I still don't understand soup for breakfast when it's so freakin' hot and muggy.
- Indians are here, too. Lucky for us, since we love Indian food.
- Vietnamese Kids love the online version of Dance Dance Revolution.
- The most grating sound ever: Screaming Vietnamese boys playing the online version of Dance Dance Revolution.
- KFC is the only American fast food chain. We didn't eat there.
- Vietnamese go to the beach en masse at 5pm. Outdoor family exercise times are 4-7am and 5-8pm when the parks are full of step classes and badminton.
- Throw your trash anywhere. Someone else will get it.
- Everybody will try to rip you off and take as much from you as they can. Tough to accept, but you gotta move on.
- Queuing? Doesn't exist here.
- Vietnamese seem to live without knowledge of their surroundings. People swing their arms around, oblivious to the people around them. Its like a big video game where all these obstacles seem to be coming out of nowhere just the moment you want to be some place.
- For the month that we were there, the Vietnamese came off as the least friendly people we've met. Don't know why, but this did not apply in Saigon.
